Over 500 neighbourhoods are built into the app’s architecture. Each neighbourhood becomes “unlocked” once enough members from that area join TownFish. When a neighbourhood is unlocked, local activity becomes visible and searchable to others, creating a vibrant and authentic local feed.

Help Unlock Neighbourhoods – Invite Friends & Family

Want to unlock your neighbourhood faster?
Invite friends, family, or co-workers who live in your area (or any other London neighbourhood) to join TownFish. The more people that join from a given location, the sooner that area will be unlocked for everyone to explore.

Spreading the word helps grow your local community, increases the number of recommendations and offers available, and contributes to making TownFish the go-to place for trusted local discovery.

How to Access and Explore Neighbourhoods

1. Open the Neighbourhood Explorer
   • Tap the Location icon in the bottom-left corner of the main menu.
   • You’ll land in your default neighbourhood, which will be:
     • The neighbourhood you live in, or
     • The closest one nearby that has already been unlocked.
2. Switch to a Different Neighbourhood
   • Tap the neighbourhood name at the top of the screen.
   • Choose from a list of all unlocked neighbourhoods to browse.
3. Follow Neighbourhoods
   • In the neighbourhood list, click the Follow icon () next to any location.
   • It will turn blue to indicate you’re now following that area.
4. View Clustered Activity From Followed Neighbourhoods
   • Once you’ve followed at least one area, a blue “Followed Neighbourhoods” link will appear at the top of the location menu.
   • Tap it to see a combined feed of activity from all the neighbourhoods you follow.

Neighbourhood Activity Filters

Every unlocked neighbourhood (or cluster view of followed ones) includes these five content streams:

Posts

• Local forum-style discussions across different topics.
• You can:
  • Like, comment, bookmark, and share posts externally.
  • Post your own content, ask for recommendations, share something interesting, or join the conversation.

Events

• Browse or post local events.
• Mark yourself as “Going” or save as “Interested.”

Recommendations

• Real recommendations from other members about venues in that area.
• Like and share these insights with friends.

Offers

• View public promotions from local venues.
• Save them to your Promobox, share with others, or scan the voucher to redeem.

Places

• Explore a full venue directory for that neighbourhood.

Pro Tip: The faster a neighbourhood gets active members, the faster it unlocks. Share your invite link and encourage people you know across London to join TownFish, every new member helps build the local community.

You will then need to choose your category ‘Recommendation Requests’ and add a Title and an additional Description (optional).

You may wish to find a new bar or discover a new resturant.

Other community members (including local Venues) will see your request appear at the top of the newsfeed and if they are following that category in that location they will get a notification about it to. We award Appreciation badges and Points for helpful answers that are posted and appreciated in order to help encourage a fast response.

Members can also @mention other users or spefic venues they may want to recommend which sends them a notification about the reocmmendation being made so you may get a suitable venue make an apperence in the comments and introduce themselves.
